BT cotton is the only approved crop in India, it is successful to a point where production has increased, but lots of scientists believe this is also one of the causes of Genetic level pollution which leads to Cancer, and we have really seen cancer cases emerging from remote villages and towns in the last twenty years.  We will only depend on original / Native seeds which are in use from ages and develop medicines instead of using imported seeds (so called Hemp which we believe are artificially engineered plants to suit the requirements, you may call them Hybrid or GMO or whatever). 

In India Cultivation of Cannabis is prohibited under narcotics and psychotropic substances act 1985 however special powers are given to state governments, if they feel right state Govt. can bring new rules in order to promote the cultivation of Cannabis only for medicinal and scientific purposes.
